👉 Great sales copywriting isn't manipulative — it's empathetic. You've probably read a sales page from an online business owner who left your heart racing. You felt feat — like if you DON'T click that BUY NOW button, your life will be over. Empathetic copy, on the other hand, will lead you to click the BUY NOW button because you're genuinely excited and can't wait to jump in, do the work, and make a change. Empathy is easy (if you're not a narcissist).
The easiest way to do empathy in everything you write for your business — sales copy, blogs, social posts, and emails… —> 🪞 Reflect the EXACT words your ideal client uses back to them. A second way is to make sure you don't leave your potential client feeling like shit when they read your offer. Feeling like they should have had it all figured out by now. How to add empathy here:
List the things your potential client has tried before finding you. It might be a lot. Maybe they've spent $6K on a crappy therapist, ruined their hormones after a year eating keto, or read enough self-help books that puts their library to shame.
-
Reference these things in your copy and show your potential client why you're different.
Here's an example of this in action.
"I understand your frustration. You've tried every low-carb diet, personal trainer, and self-help book so you feel like you should have this food thing figured out by now. You're not alone.
But what if I told you that all those things were designed to keep you stuck? I've helped hundreds of clients heal their bodies with whole food. No fancy equipment or ingredients you can't pronounce. Working with me is different."
What this does is puts your reader at ease. They can read this and feel better about themselves. "Ah, it wasn't my fault!" When your reader is at ease they can make a buying decision without fear. They can make a decision from a place of hope, optimism, and expansion. It's also much easier to write this way too 😉 Writing like a manipulative douche canoe takes too much work and is just plain shitty. ❤️🔥 Jacqueline P.S.
