Hey, friend — Last week I was pondering the connection between empathy and intuition. Here's what I came up with:
They're both natural states that we get conditioned out of
Writing with empathy AND intuition is how we find our creative flow
We're (most of us, and probably you if you're reading this) intuitive, and because we're intuitive, we have a high degree of empathy
We're sensitive — not in a crying-in-the-corner everyday kind of way, but we notice — the change in a tone of voice, the message behind the words, and the subtle brightening of someone's face when they're lit up
What to do if you've ghosted your audienceAre you a poster and ghoster? I'm referring to your blog, newsletter, or social media. It's when you feel the fire to recommit content writing, and you get on a roll with a piece or two and then stop. A week goes by. The most important thing NOT to do — apologize. 7 quick ways to reconnect with your audience after a break:
What have you learned since you last connected with your audience? Round out your learnings into a quick list.
Tell a story. Without missing a beat, dive in, say HI, and launch into your story.
Grab your mic and record a 5-minute audio clip. Add a few sentences about the audio clip.
Look at your About page for inspiration. Revise a piece of it into a piece of content or break it into chunks to share on social media over a few days. Need to write your about page? Here are some prompts.
Start a conversation. Ask your readers to reply or send you a message with a specific question. Have them share a win or their biggest challenge at the moment. Only do this if you plan to respond to those emails.
Gather 5 of your most relevant articles with links and send a round-up.
Resend an old piece of content — perhaps one of your most popular articles. Add a short intro and send away.
Don’t overthink this.
