Hey friend βΒ
First, WOW. The response I received to last week's email was more overwheming than I could have imagined. I'm so grateful for all of the kind replies and your shares on how much my writing (whether it was from that email or from 5 years earlier) has changed your life. π Thank you. It really means a lot.
Missed last week's email? Read it here.
π The conversations I had last week had a common theme β death.
In chatting with students last week, I had some deja vu moments bringing me back to 2020.
We had a very clear reminder of how fragile life can be witnessing the attempted assassination of President Trump.
It brought me back to the conversations I had in 2020. The world changed overnight. It spurred many business owners in my community to stop screwing around and take action.
I watched and supported many people through rapid change
I watched them get their businesses online in under a week
I watched people write website copy in a day after thinking about it for years (this inspired a new offer from me ... keep reading to see it)
I watched some completely pivot overnight
Now, instead of scrolling social media for hours, obsessively consuming news, and giving your energy to lengthy conversations letting yourself get frustrated... are you ignoring a writing project that's "important" to you?
I use "important" because if it were truly important to you, you would make the time for it.
What writing project will you (re)commit to TODAY?
What would you do if it was urgent to write that thing you've been putting off?
Could you write it TODAY? I'm willing to bet that you can. I've completely rewritten website copy in a day. I've written sales pages for brand-new programs in a couple of hoursΒ β two of them this week.
When you're fueled by passion and radically motivated, you can do anything in record time.
What would you write today so that at the end of your life, you look back and are happy and grateful you dedicated the time to that writing project?
This quote came up in a few writing community conversations last week. It was what sparked my action-taking in 2015 when I started taking the steps to become a full-time copywriter and author.
βThe most valuable land in the world is the graveyard. In the graveyard are buried all of the unwritten novels, never-launched businesses, unreconciled relationships, and all of the other things that people thought, βIβll get around to that tomorrow.β One day, however, their tomorrows ran out.β β Todd Henry, Die Empty: Unleash Your Best Work Every Day
3 ways to sell with authentic scarcity
Fake scarcity is BS and such a low-vibe way to promote your offers and services. Like if you say your ebook is limited to 20 downloads βΒ you're lying. Fake scarcity.
Chances are pretty good that you have a real limit to how many people you can serve, and communicating that is honest.
You have a limit to how many 1:1 coaching calls you can offer in a month. Example: I have 10 spots open this month.
There's a limited number of people you can welcome into your group program before you water down the client experience. Example: There's space for 10 women in this live experience so that I can deliver the most exceptional service for you.
You're teaching a live workshop so there's a built-in deadline (time scarcity). Example: Sign up before DATE.
