Hey friend —
This feels like so much more than an email newsletter.
Really, even the term "email newsletter" feels boring AF and doesn't quite sum up how I feel about writing emails.
I've always loved email. Love getting them, reading them, replying to them.
🎉 🎉🎉
This is the first official edition of Writing Vitamins — my new weekly newsletter.
You're getting it because you signed up for something free or a paid program from The Intuitive Writing School, or you said yes to getting emails from me on Substack. You can always unsubscribe at the bottom of emails if these emails aren't for you.
NEW BLOG: I quit writing on Substack this week. Read why here.
Writing Vitamins is a weekly email that can land in your inbox on any day of the week. I do things differently and committing to emails on Tuesdays at 10am is so fucking boring I just won't.
The emails you'll get from me all have one goal:
👉 To help you redefine your relationship with writing.
Advice is always practical and based on my actual experience. The tips you'll get from me will apply to writing:
Copy
Blogs
Emails
Books (nonfiction only)
Social posts
AND will always come with an infusion of intuition and teaching YOU how to trust your intuitive writing voice.
👋 If it's been a while since we've chatted, let me back up a bit.. .I'm Jacq!
I'm an author, copywriter, and writing coach. The Intuitive Writing School is where I lead group classes and the writing community (which is always open).
After writing online for more than 10+ years, running a 6-figure-a-year copywriting business, and self-publishing 2.2 books (the third is in the works), I have first-hand experience with writing lots of things.
After spending 13 years writing in the corporate world, I had to unlearn A LOT of cringy writing habits. If you come from academia or corporate, you'll unlearn some things, too. (Good news: writing online is 8000% easier!)
In 2017, I retired my Spanx and stilettos and went all in on writing. I write for entrepreneurs, executives, leaders, and creatives — the ones with more heart than ego.
If you're tired of learning copywriting from the self-appointed bro-y writing "gurus" who are part of the 4 am, icebath, and guzzle coffee until noon club — you and me will have a good time.
This is a BS-free zone.
Writer's block? Literally not a thing.
Writing resistance? What's that?
Fear of publishing your words? We'll bust through that, too.
Now, for a few quick writing tips.
3 online writing tips that make your writing feel friendly and approachable
If you come from corporate and academia, these are your habits to break:
Spaces after punctuation — 1 space. The double space is from the typewriter days. Use your "find" and "replace" functions to fix this until you break the habit.
Embrace contractions. Formal writing sounds like constipated writing. You can use contractions AND be professional. (E.g. I will becomes I'll, they are becomes they're)
Active voice for more engaging writing. Passive voice creeps in when people are trying to sound formal and professional. (E.g. "The cat was chased by the dog" is passive. "The dog chased the cat" is active). Active voice is usually less wordy too — brevity is always in style.

Dana is an Intuitive Writing School student with an incredible gift for writing from the heart (and the other 6 chakras). She dedicated plenty of hours during community co-writing sessions (and on her own) to make her first book a reality. Congratulations Dana! I'm so happy for you!

Re-Lyte pina colada electrolytes. It's swamp-ass season in Florida, and this makes me feel like I'm drinking from a coconut with a tiny umbrella.

How we tap into our authentic writing voice. Your best writing voice isn't something that's outside of you or some better version of yourself. Your most aligned and beautiful writing voice is a part of you — you only need to let it through.
Thanks for being here. If you're a fan of real shit, authentic writing, creativity, business, and spirituality — settle in — we're going to have an amazing time.

P.S. Bonus writing tip. ALWAYS include a PS in your email. Even if it repeats something you said in your email.
P.P.S. There's NO writing with AI around here. There are no shortcuts to writing. It takes time and practice. There's no magic pill (but there is a vitamin... you're getting your first dose today!)
P.P.P.S. TL;DR — I quit Substack and went back to my blog.
